Angeles Project Research Issues
|
|
Even to this day, General Felipe Angeles remains one of the most enigmatic figures of the Mexican Revolution. The following items represent just some of the issues being examined in this research.

-
In 1913, after Madero's assassination, Angeles faced serious legal charges which kept him incarcerated until the Huerta government sent him off to Europe. After he arrived in Paris, he managed to elude Huerta's agents and make his way to Sonora to join Carranza's revolution.
-
In 1914, Angeles received permission from Carranza to go to Sonora to join with the División del Norte, led by Pancho Villa. A controversial scism between Villa and Carranza grew out of issues surrounding the upcoming Battle of Zacatecas. General Angeles would play a significant role in aggravating this schism.
-
In late 1915, after Villa's defeats at Celaya and Trinidad, The U.S. Government bestowed its formal recognition on Carranza's faction. General Angeles went into exile in the U.S. for the next three years. He acquired a dairy farm near El Paso, but he also kept up with some interesting clandestine revolutionary activities before his fateful return to Mexico in December, 1918.
